Babelbox is a stand-alone system used to interconnect
two, or more, systems that use different protocols. On
the way through, data can be manipulated and/or archived.
Typical Applications
Protocol conversion
In a typical application a Babelbox will accept messages
using HTTP POST and pass them forward to another system
using SMPP. This enables you to quickly interconnect your
system with one or more SMSCs.
Traffic concentrator
A Babelbox can be connected to multiple data sources,
each operating with a different protocol, and can merge
these into one or more output streams.
Traffic redirector
Babelbox can route traffic to one or more destinations
based on a) customisable internal rules, b) the content
of the traffic and c) historical data.
Hardware and System Software
Babelbox can be supplied as a single rack-mount unit
or as multiple units when additional fault tolerance and/or
redundancy is required. Individual units will typically
handle up to 100 messages per second peak but are conservatively
rated at 25 messages per second. The system provides sophisticated
load sharing and additional units can be brought online
without service interruption.
Internally the units run under Linux on Industry Standard
Raid servers. The internal database is normally MySQL
but can be Oracle. Babelbox systems are only provided
as complete units.
Service and Support
Connection Software provide full remote maintenance and
support of all Babelbox systems. This includes preventive
maintenance and software upgrades. Contact

Customisation
Babelbox is an established industry system with a proven
track record. It is based on software that has been developed
over many years and as a result many options are available.
Your Babelbox systems will be customised to meet your specific
requirements with optimum performance and reliability.
Protocols
The following Protocols can be supported for both
Input and Output
CMG UCP
HTTP POST
HTTPS POST
SEMA SMS2000 - OIS
SMPP
SMTP - Email
SNPP
SOAP over HTTP
TAP
XML/RPC
Transport
The above protocols can be carried over these transports
(where appropriate)
ISDN
RS-232
TCP/IP
X.25
Additional interfaces
GSM Modems
PSTN using Ascend Digital Modems with Radius authentication
Data
Babelbox systems process diverse real-time "short
data" including:
